How to Downgrade Your PS3 to 3.55 Firmware with Rogero
If you have a PS3 that is running a custom firmware (CFW) version higher than 3.55, you may want to downgrade it to the original 3.55 firmware for various reasons. For example, you may want to use some homebrew applications that only work on 3.55, or you may want to sell your PS3 and restore it to its factory settings.
Fortunately, there is a way to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 firmware using a tool called Rogero Downgrader. This tool allows you to downgrade any CFW version to 3.55 without the need of a hardware flasher or any other complicated steps. In this article, we will show you how to use Rogero Downgrader to safely and easily downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 firmware.
Requirements
Before you start the downgrade process, you will need the following things:
A PS3 that is compatible with CFW and has a CFW version higher than 3.55 installed. You can check your PS3 model and firmware version in the System Settings menu.
A USB flash drive that is formatted to FAT32 and has at least 256 MB of free space.
A computer that can access the internet and download files.
The Rogero Downgrader PUP file, which you can download from here.
The official 3.55 firmware PUP file, which you can download from here.
Steps
Once you have everything ready, follow these steps to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 firmware with Rogero Downgrader:
Copy the Rogero Downgrader PUP file to your USB flash drive and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Create a folder on your USB flash drive called PS3 and inside it create another folder called UPDATE.
Move the PS3UPDAT.PUP file to the UPDATE folder on your USB flash drive. The final path should be USB:\\PS3\\UPDATE\\PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Eject your USB flash drive from your computer and plug it into one of the USB ports on your PS3.
Turn on your PS3 and go to the Settings menu. Select System Update and then Update via Storage Media.
Your PS3 will detect the Rogero Downgrader PUP file on your USB flash drive and ask you if you want to update. Select Yes and follow the on-screen instructions.
Your PS3 will reboot and install the Rogero Downgrader PUP file. This may take a few minutes. Do not turn off your PS3 or remove the USB flash drive during this process.
After the installation is complete, your PS3 will reboot again and show you a message saying that the update was successful and that your system software version is now 9.99.
This means that your PS3 is now ready to be downgraded to 3.55 firmware. Do not worry about the 9.99 version number, it is just a temporary spoof that allows you to install the official 3.55 firmware over any CFW version.
Now, copy the official 3.55 firmware PUP file to your USB flash drive and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Replace the existing PS3UPDAT.PUP file in the UPDATE folder on your USB flash drive with the new one. The final path should be USB:\\PS3\\UPDATE\\PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Eject your USB flash drive from your computer and plug it into one of the USB ports on your PS3.
Go back to the Settings menu on your PS3 and select System Update and then Update via Storage Media again.
Your PS3 will detect the official 3.55 firmware PUP file on your USB flash drive and ask you if you want 061ffe29dd
